Spreetail offers life and disability benefits to help protect you and your family when the unexpected happens:
- Basic Life Insurance provides a lump-sum payment to your beneficiaries if you pass away, helping support your loved ones financially during a difficult time.
- Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) adds extra protection if you die or are seriously injured in an accident, such as losing a limb or eyesight.
- Short-Term Disability Insurance helps replace part of your income if you’re unable to work for a short time due to a non-work-related illness or injury.
- Long-Term Disability Insurance continues income replacement if a serious condition keeps you out of work for an extended period, after short-term benefits end.
In addition, you may choose to purchase Voluntary Life Insurance to add extra coverage based on your personal needs. Together, these benefits provide important financial protection and peace of mind for you and your family.

If you want to purchase additional Life and AD&D coverage, we have the plan for you! You can also cover your eligible spouse and child(ren).
Spreetail offers Voluntary Life and AD&D insurance for all full-time employees and this benefit is 100% employee paid. The Standard will provide you with up to $200,000 of coverage without proof of health!
- For You: You can purchase additional Life and AD&D coverage for yourself in increments of $10,000 up to a max of $500,000; $200,000 is Guarantee Issue.
- For Your Spouse: You can purchase additional Life and AD&D coverage for your spouse in increments of $5,000 up to a max of $250,000; $25,000 is Guarantee Issue.
- For Your Child(ren): You can purchase additional Life and AD&D coverage for your child in increments of $2,000 up to a max of $10,000 – all Guarantee Issue.
For late enrollees or coverage in amounts above the guaranteed issue limit, you will need to complete an Evidence of Insurability (EOI) form with additional health information to The Standard for review. EOI allows the insurance carrier to determine the risk in offering you additional coverage. In some cases, a physical exam or blood work may be required. You can submit your EOI online here or download a paper copy here (you will need your election amounts, physician names and addresses, SSN, DOB, and Spreetail’s policy #164975)
Voluntary Short-Term Disability
Short-term disability (STD) insurance—helps you remain financially stable if you are temporarily disabled when you become injured or ill and cannot work for a short period of time. This coverage allows you to receive weekly payments based on a set percentage of your income. When this STD coverage ends, long-term disability (LTD) coverage typically takes effect. This benefit is 100% employee-paid.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: If you do not enroll during your initial enrollment period (i.e., new hire), a newly covered member will be subject to a 60-day waiting period (versus seven days) during the first 12-months of the policy for non-accident related disabilities (i.e., Physical Disease, Pregnancy or Mental Disorder). Your benefit period will still be 90-days, unless you also enroll in Vol LTD, in which case you would transfer to the LTD plan 90-days after your date of disability.
MATERNITY INFORMATION: The Standard will consider you disabled if you decide to stop working up to two weeks prior to your delivery date without a doctor's note. If you work until your delivery date and have a normal non-caesarean delivery, you are considered disabled for 6 weeks. This means in some instances when childbirth occurs during the benefit waiting period, benefits will be paid for less than six weeks. Please reference the Maternity FAQ if you have additional questions.
Voluntary Long-Term Disability
Long-term disability (LTD) insurance—protects you should you become disabled for a prolonged period prior to retirement. This is an extremely important benefit; in that it will provide disability income until your Social Security Normal Retirement Age in the case of a disability. This benefit is 100% employee-paid.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: If you do not enroll during your initial enrollment period (i.e., new hire), a covered member will need to complete an Evidence of Insurability (EOI) form and it must be approved by Standard. EOI allows the insurance carrier to determine the risk in offering you coverage. In some cases, a physical exam or blood work may be required. You can submit your EOI online here or download a paper copy here (you will need your election amounts, physician names and addresses, SSN, DOB, and Spreetail’s policy #164975)
